Bed and breakfast open for guests

Come and try out my bed and breakfast with amazing mountain views, perfect weather and home cooked meals.

Introductory offer includes free accommodation and meals, as well as transfers from Mount Hagen airport to Kiminga.

On January 18 I fly to Mt Hagen to be Principal at Highlands Christian Grammar. I am excited about being able to serve God in the highlands of PNG where I spent some of my childhood. However, I know that I will suffer homesickness, so please come and visit or drop me regular emails or Facebook messages.

If you would like to receive my newsletter let me know. lis@cramb.id.au

PNG visit

I recently visited PNG to have a handover with the previous principal. Joy has done an amazing job at setting up the school. While I was there I disregarded all the Smart Traveller alerts. I attended a large political gathering. I had my photo taken with the Prime Minister….but now I am not so sure if I did. Check out the political situation in PNG.

Dad introduced me to so many people who were excited that I was coming back to PNG. I had two offers of “fathers” who will look after me; one is even going to “look out for a husband for me”. I met up with a childhood friend, Heather. We played together when I was 4 and she will be working at the Baptist Education office, on the compound where I will live.

I also had the opportunity to visit my old house in the Baiyer valley and they have moved the hospital much closer to our house. It used to be such a long way and now it is only a few hundred metres!

Work

It was a whirlwind year at Dutton Park State School. All the EQ staff out there will know what all the gibberish below means. Basically, I am proud of the contribution I could make to curriculum leadership at Dutton Park.

Highlights included:

- moving the school from a low to a high on the curriculum audit. Apparently, only the second school in Queensland to make this jump.

- Supporting all teaching staff to achieve their ICT certificate or Pedagogical license.

- Working with some super Special Ed staff

Wellbeing

I have continued to run, cycle and gym. I’m not sure who I will miss more next year…my personal trainer, Mark, or my hairdresser Rhonda. Both are vital to my wellbeing!

Mark has set me on a new fitness path TRX training. I should be able to do this at home so no need to stress about me running on the streets of Mt Hagen.

Family

I am going to miss my family dreadfully while in PNG. It has been a wonderful year with special moments. I am hoping for a good Skype connection.

Here are some photos taken at our outing to the art gallery and Ekka.
